TIRANA, July 30 /ATA/- The Albanian Parliament is expected to approve today the constitutional changes for opening of the lists of candidates and coalitions.
At 10 a.m., the Assembly will convene in the last plenary sitting for this Parliamentary session to resume later in September.
After 5 hours of discussions, the Political Council closed the discussions last night without an agreement on the constitutional changes.
“One thing is clear, no one questioned the legitimacy of the Assembly to approve the constitutional changes. Secondly, it became clear again and no one was able to articulate that the constitutional changes neither hinder the opening of 100% of the lists, nor the coalitions”, – said Gjiknuri.
While Bylykbashi of the DP said: “Our proposal guarantees the opening of the lists, what the majority demands is entirely something else. We have asked for the motives of the rejection and the SP has refused to give the reason why it does not stop from the unilateral change of the Constitution which aims only to change the rules of the election game unilaterally. We showed readiness through concrete proposals.”/p.s./
