TIRANA, July 28 /ATA/ -The Special Structure against Crime and Corruption (SPAK) released today the names of 22 detainees. According to the acts administered in order to investigate the criminal proceedings of 2019, for file 339 it was confirmed that during the 2017 elections, commissioners in three polling stations have intentionally allowed other persons to appear before them and vote on behalf of other voters.
During an operation in Tirana and Durrës, the judicial police executed the arrest warrants, namely “Prison arrest” for 11 citizens, “House arrest” for 8 citizens and “Obligation to appear” for 3 citizens.
According to the statement issued today by SPAK, among the 22 people arrested, 14 are the commissioners of the three polling stations, who represented the political entities of Democratic Party, Socialist Party, Socialist Movement and Republican Party.
The general secretary of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi reacted regarding the arrests of the commissioners, emphasizing that “file 339 is a state crime, in which Edi Rama stole and bought the 2017 elections with organized crime”.
According to him, “for this crime, which continues to hold the country hostage, justice has not yet been done.” “SPAK must act fully and not hide behind the finger. Manipulating the 2017 election requires justice and punishment, starting from the head rather than the tail. “Buying votes, cooperating with organized crime in elections, threatening voters and commissioners, pressure on the public administration, are crimes that await justice”, declared Bardhi./p.s./
