TIRANA, July 1/ATA/ Even amid the epidemic, we decided that for the fifth year in a row to open the competition for the selection of medical specialties, a transparent process led by the Rectorate and the University of Medicine. There are 213 new doctors due to begin specialization this year, the Albania’s Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu said.
“We have paid more attention to the quotas for the specialization of the family doctor based on our primary care strategy, as well as the specializations in anesthesiology, resuscitation, cardiology, pediatrics, internal medicine and surgery,” Minister Manastirliu said.
More than 300 specialist doctors with quotas dedicated to the Ministry of Health are already serving in public hospitals and about 800 specialized doctors throughout the system, a process which reopened after a 4-year suspension.
“This process took place during a mourning day for the Faculty of Medicine, for the loss of our esteemed colleague. But we have to convey a message of hope to these hundreds of doctors who are starting out their professional careers today,” she added. //a.i/
