Work to construct new stadium up to required UEFA standards in Kukes continues uninterrupted

TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ – The work to construct the Zeqir Ymeri stadium in the north-eastern town of Kukës continues to make progress largely uninterrupted despite the devastating earthquake that hit Albania last November and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Mayor of Kukës Safet Gjici said in interview with the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) on Sunday said that intense construction work continues to deliver best standards.

“I believe that the new stadium will have a significant impact on the town’s development,” Mayor Gjici said, adding “given the fact that Kukes borders Kosovo, the new stadium could also host international games.”

“In other words, the new stadium will host not only matches between teams in the Albanian football championship, but also games of teams of the neighbouring Kosovo,” Gjici said, highlighting the the impact of the investment on the influx of the movement of people.

“It is a stadium with 10,000-seat capacity where football matches will be played every weekend and sports activities will revive the town in many aspects.
