TIRANA, June 26 /ATA/ – The new building of Sami Frashëri high school in Tirana will be not only twice larger than the previous one, but it will also feature a modern infrastructure, high safety standards and optimum conditions for teachers and students, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj said in his presentation of the new school project as part of the post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction program.
In his remarks at the presentation event at the National history Museum, Tirana Mayor also noted that much better education facilities will be construction in the affected areas in addition to the compensation grants for rebuilding the quake-damaged homes.
“We have already launched the process in Tirana with the transfer of the initial 300 compensation grants and we are also signing the initial contracts for the construction of new homes for the quake-affected families. A contract on reconstruction of 200 individual homes was signed today. But we know that in addition to the individual homes, we should also construct our common homes, like the Sami Frasheri high school that brings together and houses 1500 students, but also 1500 families that have entrusted their most precious thing to the government, the ministry of education and the municipality,” deklaroi Veliaj.
Highlighting some of the investments in Tirana over the past 5 years, Veliaj stressed that work is the best campaign one can do.
“This place where we are now did not exist. In its place there was a big car parking lot, the square behind us was not here, work to rehabilitate “Zogu I” boulevard will complete soon, while the value of the largest part of apartment houses has already increased by 70%. The new boulevard did not exist, the New Bazaar too, which this week was awarded a prize from the World Architecture as one of the last 10 most beautiful investments in the world,” Veliaj said.
