TIRANA, June 18 /ATA/ “The Socialist Party has become the target of a ruthless attack and mud-slinging, part of a whole criminal political strategy, you know why, just because it has been the force that has given this country for nearly 7 years a government that has dared to fight crime like never before. ”
This is what PM Edi Rama stated on Thursday’s plenary session in response to the opposition MP, Halit Valteri.
PM went on saying that “diverse opinions are definitely the ones that help us understand better and move ahead on the right path, but the facts are not opinions. Whether you like it or not and all those who speak like you, Albania today is incomparable to Albania yesterday, not Albania 100 years ago, but Albania 5-6 years ago in terms of the fight against crime. It is a well- established fact already, it is not an opinion, that anyone standing firm on fight against crime is accused of doing the otherwise.”
According to him, whoever is serious about the crackdown on crime becomes the target of mudslinging and allegations of being an accomplice in crime.
“This has happened in any country of the world where crime was fought with utmost seriousness,” Rama said.
The Prime Minister further said that “I followed this questions and answers’ session with concern, not because it is the first, but while prepping to talk about the EU progress report, I happened to think once more about a debate we had together, Mr. Valter last time or earlier, when you were rightly worried about the violence and here you exercised violence today, again you incited violence, you inspired the violence, you gave to all the young men and women the worst possible example of how a person stands up for his convictions in a public environment. ”
“It is unacceptable for an MP to appear in the podium of parliament and raise criminal charges, to spill details related to an investigation, stating that he knows the killers, knows those behind the assassination attempt, the victims, knows who is wearing hats and who not when you have not appeared before the prosecutor’s office to make your clues available for investigation and help solve the crime, ” – Rama said.
The Prime Minister said that “you are neither the only one nor the first, simply the extension of a phalanx that for years has held back the culture of parliamentarism, keeping it from developing according to European standards, which are the talk of anyone going as far as criminalizing the world. ”
