Cyber defence a firm priority of Armed Forces

TIRANA, June 18  /ATA/-By A. Fortuzi/- Protection from cyber attacks or attacks through digital warfare and strengthening the cyber defence remain a firm priority for the Armed Forces and the Ministry of defence.

“With the technology development, the defence and security concepts have changed too. To this end, the Ministry of Defence and Albania’s Armed Forces have adapted themselves to cope with new challenges. A whole invisible army of servicemen and civilians work on daily basis to protect sensitive data, the classified information and communication of the Armed Forces as part of a major organization like NATO,” the Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka said as the shared a video showing the Armed Forces work in this respect.

ASNI commander, Colonel Hamdi Doda, underlined that “cyber crime is a complex environment arising from criminal interactions of individuals, programs and services through technological devices.”

“Armed Forces are a constant target of the cyber offenders. The cyber defence is a military and warfare concept, but there are also cases of cyber attacks for criminal purposes. The purposes of these attacks range from obtaining information, obtaining unauthorized access, and even infecting computer equipment. A part of the Ministry of Defence’s computer networks are interactive and accessible online, making them vulnerable to cybercrime. The Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces as institutions of special importance in the field of defence are a potential target from cybercrime, therefore increasing the capacity of cyber defence is a top priority,” Doda stated.
