TIRANA, June 15/ATA/- Fier Bypass, one of the main works of the Albanian road infrastructure, vital for the movement, especially during the summer season, was opened today in both its lanes.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku, stopped today in Fier where they saw closely the works carried out for the construction of this bypass.
PM Rama called this a gigantic work. According to him, with the systematization of the segment 120 km from Milot to Fier through Thumana and Rrogozhina we will have a fantastic work.
“With the closure of the other bypass, the by-pass of Fier is finally closed and beginning from today this important work is available to the public, with all the standards guaranteed after the complete overhaul of the project,” said PM Rama.
Minister Balluku said that the Fier bypass is of category “b”, extra urban and has a speed limit of 120 km per hour.
In the first days, traffic on this bypass will be monitored by the Traffic Police, said Balluku.
“This road has been treated in detail according to the requirements of the local government. Of course, we also respected the environment, as trees have been planted on both sides of it. We have built three large bridges along this segment, that of Pojan, Semani and Bocara, over 4 crossroads with two levels, 21 underpasses and 7 overpasses “, said the minister.
Fier Bypass is of special importance as it makes possible the connection of the three axes Lushnjë-Fier, Levan-Vlorë and Levan-Tepelena, but at the same time it makes the south coast easier to access.
The construction of this axis and its commissioning shortens the Tirana-Vlora distance by 35 minutes.
Fier Bypass is one of the key segments of the North-South highway. According to the project, it is approximately 22km long, worth 60m Euros funded by the EBRD and the BEI. /a.gjonaj/ /a.g/p.s./
