Ungrej, another tourism attraction worth visiting in Lezha

TIRANA, June 14 /ATA/ – Ungrej is a little known yet quite interesting tourist attraction worth a visit in Lezha district, northwest Albania.

Nature has blessed the village of Ungrej with an ensemble of natural, cultural and historical values that are increasingly becoming a popular mountainous tourism attraction. Hiking  along the winding road snaking its way to the top of the ridge is a must-do activity if you want to enjoy the panoramic view and mindboggling landscape of the areas of Kallmet and the whole plains of Zadrima below.

Now the route is shown through several ecological signs placed by the local Tourism Office in the Municipality of Lezha. This is an initial stage, as new hiking markers for tourist trail will be installed soon to provide more safety for the visitors. These signs indicate the historical and cultural destinations, while they are being complemented with the arrow signs and other markers on fixed objects along the trails that traverse almost the whole area and its values.

The area of Ungrej lies on a plain area where several valleys of mountain streams join, including the Ungrej stream. The distance between the coastal town of Shengjin and Ungrej is a 5-minute drive from a warm area to a fresher and more attractive climate. This trip passes through the village of Kallmet which in itself is another destination of cultural tourism.

A considerable number of residents and emigrants from the area are returning back home and are working to turn their private family homes into quite interesting guesthouses to attract more visitors and mountainous and adventure tourism enthusiasts.
