Electoral reform/ Shameti: Open lists and no more pre-election coalitions

TIRANA, June 14 /ATA/ Socialist Party MP, Adnor Shameti, stated on Sunday that “it is very healthy to have open lists and of course there will be no more pre-election coalitions.”

“It is pointless to deny that open lists enjoy people’s support. Although they are not a miraculous recipe in my conviction, the open lists should not be a taboo for the majority, ” Shameti said.

Speaking about the agreement on electoral reform, Shameti said that the out of parliament opposition gained what they wanted.

“Even more than they deserved given their approach over these 3 years. This is not about what these people inside parliament will gain, but what the people will gain from this process! We should not worry about how upset those who are outside will be or how much those who cannot enter will be shocked if they are separated from the big parties. I believe that 30 years have passed with party leaders without parties who enter the ranks of mother parties, with closed coalitions to close some ministries and directorates thereafter, ” Shameti said.
