TIRANA, June 11 /ATA/-The non-performing loans accounted for 8.28% at the end of April 2020.
According to the Bank of Albania, this indicator has increased slightly compared to the level of 8.18% in February, when it reached the lowest indicator in 11 years.
The BoA said that the banks report non-performing loans when they have not been paid back for more than three months, while the effects of COVID-19 on this indicator have not been calculated.
In the context of the COVID-19 situation, banks undertook the process of restructuring credit for businesses and families in temporary difficulties, which began after a joint decision between the government and the BoA and carried a facilitation of the regulatory requirements on credit risk-taking.
The decision was initially for three months, for the period March-May and then postponed for another three months, June-August 2020.
The Bank of Albania said that the loans with a total value of about 2 billion Euros, or almost half of the loan stock provided by banks amounting to 4 billion Euros, have been restructured for the first quarterly postponement. e.xh // a.a / r.e /p.s./
