Tomini: COVID-19 curve in Albania is going down, under supervision in summer

TIRANA, May 21 /ATA/ Eugena Tomini, the head of epidemiology at the Institute of Public Health, said on Thursday that the epidemiological situation and identification of COVID-19 cases have stabilized.

In a televised interview, she said that the phased relaxation of measures has led to a gradual drop in the number of those infected on a day to day basis.
She said that the process of tracing cases to the clusters or toll manufacturing units is well underway.

Tomini pointed out that the adherence to protection protocols is being monitored by the relevant inspectors in the districts where there are clusters with most of them under the supervision of pediatricians.

“As the curve is going down naturally, there is a general plateauing of COVID-19 cases,” Tomini said.
Tomini went on saying that respiratory infections peak in winter. “But even during summer we anticipate sporadic cases, but of course we will not stop surveillance in summer. Meanwhile autumn is expected to see COVID-19 and viral resurgence,” she emphasized.
