Canada/ Embassy provides information to Albanian students

TIRANA, April 11 /ATA/ – The Albanian Embassy in Canada on Saturday shared important information with Albanian students in Canada regarding the situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has affected migration services and Canadian authorities have adopted supporting policies for the international migrants and students.

According to the Canadian State Department for the Global Affairs, the international students stranded in the country can apply to renew their study permit, or restore their status to continue studies in Canada while being given the right to work even if their application is still being processed.

International students who have obtained study permit before 18 March, 2020, will be allowed to travel to Canada, while the others who have obtained their study permits after this date will not be allowed to travel there until a further government decision.

Canada has adopted a financial support package that includes a financial assistance of around 2000 dollars.

International students who meet the criteria set by the Employment Insurance program or the new Canadian Emergency Support program are also entitled to benefit financial assistance under the emergency support package.

Albanian Embassy in Canada calls on students to regularly consult with public health centers to obtain information on guidelines for support to their community.
