TIRANA, April 9 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ “The Albanian Football Federation will financially support football players, coaches, referees and anyone else employed in football,” AFF president , Armand Duka, said while unveiling the financial package in a message to Albanian football.
President Duka said that in these difficult days, the «enemy» has moved very fast and affected our daily lives and sport community.
He availed himself of the opportunity to express his condolences to the families of those who lost their life to COVID 19, including the former sportsman Skënder Kurti.
Also, Duke added that “a part of our football community lives off football. But the virus has forced them to stay at home and not exercise. So the Federation has tried to mediate between the sports employees and the Albanian government in order to help cover the pays for the sports employees, footballers, officials and others in these difficult days. We have been unsuccessful in convincing the government to date. Under these conditions, the Executive Committee of the Federation has decided to approve a financial package in aid of footballers, coaches, referees and anyone who is employed in football. This financial package sets out the provision of a reward, salary, or financial assistance as it may be called, for a period of one month from March 15 to April 15, equal to a payment of ALL 30 thousand. If we do not return after April 15, the same package will be repeated.
The financial source of this package is the contribution of the Federation administration itself, the contribution of the staff of the national team, starting with the coach of the national team Edi Reja and his staff. All the high salaries in the federation have expressed solidarity to get them cut by half in order to raise this fund as well as a loan because all this is not foreseen in our budget. A a financial loan that we plan to cover in next year’s budget, “Duka said.
In the end, Duke called on the entire football community in Albania to strictly adhere to the instructions of health authorities and expressed confidence that together we will win this “game” against this dangerous opponent.
