TIRANA, April 8 /ATA/ – Leading international currencies strengthened further against Albania’s national currency lek in the domestic exchange market on Wednesday.
According to central bank fixed exchange rate, Europe’s single currency, the Euro was traded a 126,36 lek or 0,44 lek than a day ago.
The U.S. Dollar also gained ground and it was traded at 116,36 lek, or 0,46 lek more than a day ago.
Other leading currencies also strengthened further, including the Swiss Franc and the Great Britain’s pound that were exchanged respectively at 119.75 lek, up by 0.60 lek and 143.29, or 0.20 lek more than a day ago.
According to the BoA, the exchange rate fluctuates within the expected indicators, but without threatening the regime of a free exchange rate, the central bank can intervene in the domestic exchange market in a bid to adjust the exchange rate to the level determined by macroeconomic factors, avoid disorders and increase or decrease in foreign exchange reserves.
