TIRANA, March 27 /ATA/- According to the World Health Organization, there is no evidence that the COVID-19 virus is transmitted through drinking water or wastewater systems.
The German program GIZ Albania announces that as the outbreak of this infectious disease is threatening human health, water supply and sanitation services play a vital role in ensuring that the water supply and sanitation systems are functioning properly, taking appropriate measures to prevent human-to-human transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
The German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) has implemented in our country an important program for “Orientation of Water Supply and Sewerage Services to Performance and Consumer.”
The program aims to improve the water supply and sanitation system, sustainable management of water services and capacity building of its entities in cooperation with the government and local governments.
The objective of the program is to ensure that national and local actors in drinking water supply and sanitation services implement the guiding principles of sector reform, in particular orientation and responsibility of performance, in a coordinated manner.
