TIRANA, March 26 /ATA/ – Periodic demographic data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) in the country show a significant growth of the population in the main cities of Tirana and Durres.
INSTAT data show that as of 1 January 2020, Tirana’s population recorded a 1.2% year-on-year growth.
Tirana is followed by the port city of Durres with a population increase by 0.2 % compared to the same period of the previous year.
INSTAT said that main cities Tirana, Durres and Fier account for the largest population in the country.
“As of January 1, 2020, Tirana accounted for about 31.8% of the country’s total population, remaining one of the most populous districts in the country, followed by Durres and Fier with 10.2% each. As for other districts, five of them make up 2% to 5% of the total population,” INSTAT reported.
