TIRANA, March 24 /ATA/ – Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz welcomed Tuesday the European affairs ministers’ decision to launch the EU membership talks with Albania and North Macedonia, affirming that “Austria is a staunch supporter of a credible EU perspective for all Western Balkan states.”
“I am therefore happy that we were able to reach political agreement on opening accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia today. This marks an important milestone on their EU path,” Austrian Chancellor said.
Kurz noted that “enhancing the cooperation between the EU and our Western Balkan friends is crucial to tackle global challenges, such as the COVID-19 outbreak or the migration crisis.”
