Ahmetaj: Restrictive measures efficient, necessary economic activities allowed to operate

TIRANA, March 23 /ATA/ – The Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj said on Monday evening that the restrictive measures taken by the government are all designed to save the people’s lives and contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country.

Ahmetaj said in TV political talk show although the state of the natural disaster has yet to be declared as a legal act, the actions and measures applied so far have proved quite effective.

According to him, the Council of Ministers is mulling the idea to declare the state of emergency for a certain period of time.

“As you already said, this is a pandemic that has affected a large number of countries that are in a state of war with the virus being the main enemy and the other enemy that is the consequence of the pandemic, the drastic economic downturn that is being felt without exception in all countries. As to the issue of the state of emergency, the situation is certainly dynamic and the Council of Ministers is constantly discussing whether it should be declared and when. But despite its declaration, which is a legal act bearing certain consequences and impact on a range of activities, a series of orders, measures, government decisions have been taken and they are proving efficient,” Ahmetaj said.
