Building capacities with respirators for intensive therapy, says Kalo

TIRANA, March 22/ATA/- During a conversation with Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu, the distinguished Doctor Tritan Kalo said that tough measures and the individual awareness of respecting the social distance can avoid similar developments like in Italy in regard to infection from the COVID-19.

“This is the only way that happened to be efficient in China in slowing down the disease and its elimination step by step,” said Kalo.

In answer to question by Minister Manastirliu on the condition of the patients at the hospital of infectious diseases, Kalo said that 4 of the sick persons are at an averagely serious condition, but still need to be kept under intensive therapy. They may need at any moment the mechanical ventilation, said Kalo.

Speaking about the capacity of the Infectious Disease Service, Kalo appreciated that we are actually building the capacities. There are only 16 countries that have respirators.

The minister positively assessed the spirit of the team of doctors and the sacrifices they are making in service of the people infected with COVID-19./p.s./
