Basha: I welcome govt. measures, yet emergency state needs to be put in place

TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ “State of emergency needs to be declared all across the country,” DP head Basha said in a televised interview while outlining 3 priorities in the efforts to cope with the crisis.

In response to the question what you would have done if you were PM today, Basha said: Three things, first emergency measures to protect frontl-ine doctors, nurses and all healthcare practitioners who are more exposed to infection and at risk. The virus just as the earthquake has exposed the vulnerability of Albanian state that goes back to years. Thus, the first thing I would have done is disbursing sufficient funding to protect healthcare practitioners. Secondly, I would have acted swiftly to purchase the ventilators and personal protective equipment.

“Thirdly, which is the last but not the last, the number of tests in Albania is surprisingly lower than in any other country of the region, which in the opinion of experts I have consulted, does not reflect the real statistics. The real number is higher, therefore investments in healthcare are a priority.”
