TIRANA, Feb 26 /ATA/- The new anti-seismic technical code for construction designed by professors, based on European standard Eurocode 8 will serve the new reconstruction program and all constructions in our country after the November 26, 2019 earthquake.
President of the Academy of Sciences, Skender Gjinushi, during the meeting held on Wednesday in Tirana with the group of academics in the field of seismology, stated that, “in December last year, a relevant unit headed by Professor Shyqyri Aliaj was established. It has drafted the relevant study on the new technical anti-seismic code in construction. ”
“This unit, according to Gjinushi, was tasked with making this study applicable, incorporating into the new designs, the Eurocode 8, in the light of Reconstruction Program, but also in other constructions to be carried out further, for resilient constructions and earthquake resistant ones, as the first stage, in order to implement the studies conducted by the Seismological Institute included in a joint study by the most prominent professors in the field ”.
“This study is launched today to get an in-depth assessment and feedback from relevant specialists before it is submitted to State Committee for Reconstruction which will implement it in the first stage of reconstruction and beyond, in other infrastructure works.”
