TIRANA, February 11 /ATA/- The total assets in the banking system reached an amount of ALL 1 476 billion at the end of 2019, marking an increase of about 1.6% compared with the previous year.
According to the Bank of Albania, the growth is three times higher than in 2018, which confirms the positive trend of banks’ activity and the consolidation of this sector in our country.
The Central Bank noted that the reduction of non-performing loans has led to an improvement in the loan portfolio.
According to the BoA, credit remains the main item in the banking sector’s balance sheet and accounts for about 39% of total assets. Although the indicator that contributed the most to the growth of assets, is the investment in securities, which increased by ALL 20 billion or 5% on an annual basis. /e.xh/j.p/p.s./
