TIRANA, January 30/ATA/-The Parliament approved the amnesty for 175 convicts. The amnesty law approved also envisages the reduction by 1/3 of the sentence for 29 women.
The Parliament approved the amnesty with 102 votes in favor, 1 abstention and 2 against. While 3 lawmakers didn’t take part in the vote.
Different from the amnesty 2016, this time amnesty is granted only on convicts sentenced by penal final verdict and executed or on who there has begun execution of the penal verdict. There is no amnesty on cases under investigation, cases not yet examined or under process of examination by the courts as well as for the denouncements that happen.
Out of 5351 convicts and detainees, 2632 of whom are sentenced by final verdict and 175 of them are granted amnesty. There are 150 men who are immediately released, 23 women convicts and two minors, while 29 other women and girls benefit a reduction by 1/3 of their sentence./j.p/p.s./
