TIRANA, January 24 /ATA/- Prime Minister Edi Rama gave a joint press conference with the visiting President of the European Council Charles Michel following their meeting in Tirana.
“We shall do the same whether the EU accession negotiations open or not because it’s for ourselves and our future and not because the Council, Paris or the Hague asked us to”, said PM Rama.
The prime minister expressed his satisfaction that the reforms are making a smooth progress.
“We shared with the president the ambition of taking a new step in fight against organized crime and “Catch what you Can” organization”, said PM Rama.
The head of government emphasized that the EU is going through a process of inner reform.
Speaking about the Reconstruction Program, PM Rama emphasized that “what matters is that by the end of this year Albania will be a better country.”
“Of course we have spoken with the President of the Council also about the reform process and the progress of the integration process; we have shared views on what has been achieved so far and what should be achieved further and on the internal EU debate on what is now known as methodology, new enlargement.”
I am very pleased that President Michel has expressed the will to be especially committed to the region, not only in view of the process of further integration of countries individually, but also in order to strengthen regional cooperation and a new approach of Brussels in relation to the economic and social development of the region “, – underlined Rama./k.s/p.s./
