PISA programme, Albania records fastest improvement

TIRANA, January 17/ATA/- Albania has made the fastest improvement in PISA test scores over the years, while this year’s results show that reform in pre-university education is bearing fruit.

The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth said that there is still work to be done to achieve the standards we want.

In a video prepared by the Center for Educational Services it is revealed what PISA is and the experience Albania has had in the interval 2012-2018.

PISA, Programme for International Student Assessment is a worldwide study by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in member and non-member nations intended to evaluate educational systems by measuring 15-year-old school pupils’ scholastic performance on mathematics, science. PISA measures their abilities to apply what they have learned in school to real life situations, assessing not what they know but what they can do with what they know. PISA testing is not directly related to any country’s curriculum.

Its purpose is to evaluate education systems around the world, learn from the policies and practices of countries that have demonstrated improvement and development.

Albania is one of 79 countries participating in PISA 2018. This was Albania’s 5th participation, in addition to the 2000, 2012 and 2015.

The Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth announced that, “Albania is currently preparing for PISA 2021”./a.a/p.s./
