Agriculture export increased by 20%, says Çuçi

TIRANA, January 9 /ATA/- “During the 11 months of 2019, there have been 20% more agricultural products exported from Albania,” said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bledi Çuçi while in Lushnje to inspect a heating greenhouse for tomato production, which is an Agricultural Cooperative Society investment of about ALL 45 million.

Çuçi added that, “This investment with the help of the IPARD scheme will be expanded with another hectare. Large greenhouses create an absolute advantage. Together with the collection points make a very important binomial for the development of agriculture. We are very clear on this policy and it is rewarding. Just look at the 11-month 2019 figures, where we exported 20% more crops than the year before. This is a very high growth rate. If we continue at this pace within five years we will double the export of agricultural products. ”

“Thanks to the support of the IPARD program this investment will be further expanded. Estimates are that annual output is expected to be around 150 tons of tomatoes, while the company has also received Global G.A.P certification, thereby ensuring export to international markets at a higher price. Agricultural Cooperative Societies have been granted fiscal relief by the government. Suffice it to mention the removal of the turnover threshold for VAT reimbursement and the reduction of profit tax to 5%,” said he./p.s./
