Non-performing loans close to single digit level

TIRANA, Dec 10 /ATA/ Non-performing loans have dropped to 10,2% of the total hitting an all time low in a period of 10 years.

The ratio of non-performing loans is very close to single-digit levels, driven by both quantitative lending growth this year and quality portfolio improvements.

The Bank of Albania reports that at the end of October, credit to private sector grew by 6.7% on an annual basis. While non-performing loans have become more stable in value.

Although the system is protected through the mechanism of property insurance, the earthquake can bring new flows of non-performing loans. The management of this specific and exceptional situation is expected to be the subject of a specific platform of measures undertaken by the Bank of Albania.
