TIRANA, November 27/ATA/-“I have sworn to be a firefighter and serve my people, in every difficult moment of my life that will come out and risk my life to save the lives of others. This time, we managed to save lives in ruins caused by the earthquake “, said the firefighter from Vlora Luan Kapaj.
Together with his colleagues, he has been working hard trying to get people out of the earthquake ruins.
“It was a difficult moment, as the apartment block was leveled and when people there were seeking help it was impossible not to help them,” said Kapaj to reporters.
Highlighting his work and that of his colleagues, Kapaj said that, “There was a tunnel that we could barely get into, but we managed to save a woman and a man alive. It was impossible not to put your life at risk to save their lives, “said he.
“It was their destiny to be trapped there, but also our duty,” said Kapaj.
He regretted the fact that although they saved two lives, unfortunately two more people remained in the rubbles.”
“Today, we shall continue and probably bring them out alive,” said Kapaj.
Vlora Municipality today honored firefighter Luan Kapaj extending the award “Gratitude of the City of Vlora” for his sacrifice to save people who were under rubble.
Yesterday, when his powers appeared to be exhausted and the National Health Emergency forced him to lie down on a stretcher, Luan Kapaj refused the oxygen mask and returned to the ruins in search of people seeking salvation./k.s/p.s./
