TIRANA, Nov 26 /ATA/ – The Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment has been monitoring the post-earthquake and aftershock situation since 03:54 on Tuesday.
In an interview with ATA, seismologist Rexhep Koci says the 6.3- magnitude earthquake, 40km in depth north of Durres, was followed by a significant number of aftershocks that have been lighter in magnitude showing that seismic activity will slow down during the day.
“Albania has experienced around 250 aftershocks below 5 – magnitude until 15:00 hrs on Tuesday. We continue to monitor the situation and the trend shows that the earthquake’s force is declining,” Koçi said.
