TIRANA, November 13 /ATA/- President Ilir Meta gave a press conference on Wednesday evening to answer questions of the journalists about the decree on appointment of Marsida Xhaferllari as a judge in the Constitutional Court and the procedure followed by him for filling this vacancy.
In answer to question about the 30-day deadline, Meta said that, “There is no deadline in the Constitution for the President of the Republic. Secondly, the Constitution is above everything else, especially when it comes to the creation of the Constitutional Court. The constitution is a null without the Constitutional Court and we are without the Constitution as long as we are without the Constitutional Court. ”
Further on, he highlighted the significance of the process. “Every act in this process by the president, parliament and all institutions involved in the construction of Albania’s Constitutional Court is historical, because it will remain a reference in the future.”
Meta added that, “the President has the right to fill the first vacancy of the Constitutional Court, and then it’s the turn of the parliament. And thus, the same order is repeated”.
Referring to the decree on Marsida Xhaferllari, Meta said that, “My action has been lawful. You mentioned a name, I tell you, it is the name with the most excellent CV of all the candidates.”/p.s./
