TIRANA, Nov 8 /ATA/ – The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Albanian Development Fund (ADF) signed a EUR 200.000 cooperation agreement aimed at providing technical assistance in preparing a regional investment program in northern Albania.
The deal represents the initial step as part of a broader technical assistance program that will be implemented in partnership with ADF to support the region through a funding of around EUR 3 million.
The technical assistance will include the Adriatic coastline between the coastal towns of Shengjin and Velipoje, Shkodra lake shore, Buna river and Koplik in Albanian Alps, as part of territories of the municipalities of Shkodr, Lezha and Malesi e Madhe.
Under this cooperation agreement, EIB will assist ADF in developing the integrated tourism development strategy and urban improvement of the gateway area to the Alps, taking into account the natural assets and potentials of the area, as well as environmental issues.
“Assisting efforts to develop an investment program in public infrastructure based on regional tourism potential and an in-depth assessment of existing infrastructure shortcomings, the Bank will contribute to the development of northern Albania’s untapped potential,” said Alessandro Bragonzi, EIB officer in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
This partnership illustrates the EIB support for Albanian authorities for sustainable development that synthesizes existing plans and sectors and prioritizes strategic investment.
