TIRANA, November 7/ATA/- Speaker of the Parliament Gramoz Ruçi received Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Security of Turkey Celatetin Güvenc who attended the annual meeting of the Parliamentary Committees on Defense and Security of Southeast Europe, which was held at the venues of the Albanian Parliament on November 5-6.
The Speaker of the Parliament reaffirmed Albania’s willingness to strengthen bilateral relations, as well as to identify new areas of cooperation, especially the economic and trade relations.
Regarding the topic of the annual meeting of defense and security committees, Ruçi underlined that the security issue is a delicate and fundamental one for our region. Today, the concept of security has become widely accepted and security itself is threatened by the modern achievements of mankind, such as the rapid advancement of information technology and other factors. We should not have two standards for security. On the contrary, the prospect of European Union security must be the same as the concept of security for countries outside the European Union. Therefore, the security and defense policies in and for the region of Southeast Europe are closely linked with the vision for integration of the Western Balkans.
On his part, Turkey’s Parliamentary Security Committee Chairman Celatetin Güvenc thanked Speaker Ruçi for high evaluation of the co-operation with Turkey and presenting his vision for security in the EU and the region. And he underlined that Turkey and Albania will boost co-operation, peace, security and stability in the region and beyond./a.sh./ /a.g/p.s./
