TIRANA, Oct 26 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – “Albania and North Macedonia have no alternative, but joining the European Union, because EU membership is the only safe future, not only for our two countries, but also the EU itself and the whole continent,” the President of the Republic Ilir Meta stated at a joint press conference with the visiting North Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski on Saturday.
The Albanian head of state noted that “any other alternatives to our countries and the Western Balkans, even informal ones, is unacceptable and worthless, not only to our countries, but also the EU and the future of the United Europe.”
“Any informal idea that can be put forward as an alternative to replace the process of our countries’ and the Western Balkans’ integration into the European Union is pointless and harmful. Every process in this region is done in the common inspiration of European integration in all our countries. The only perspective and solution is the enlargement of the EU and the membership of our countries, “Meta said.
