TIRANA, October 23/ATA/ -The Chargé d’Affaires at the Austrian Embassy in Tirana Christian Steiner expressed his regret over Albania’s failure to open accession negotiations with the European Union.
Being in the Northern Albanian city of Shkodra where he attended event on Austria’s national day, the Chargé d’Affaires, who will be the new ambassador in Tirana in few days time, Christian Steiner reconfirmed his country’s support for Albania.
“Our minister, when he was here in October, expressed his support for Albania’s European integration. We are sorry that the decision was delayed as both Albania and North Macedonia worked well. Europe is not complete while the Balkan countries are absent, “said Steiner.
“I was on a diplomatic service for the first time in your country in the years 96-97. Life then was not simple; many things have changed for the better today. However, in 1996 I was positively impressed by the links in some fields between Albania and Austria. It sounds natural given the historical connections. I am happy to see the promotion of these relationships and even success of the Austrian school, one of our 8 educational institutions,” said he./a.g/p.s./
