TIRANA, October 21/ATA/- Prime Minister Edi Rama pledged today to do the electoral reform with all those who want to participate in the process and vote in the Parliament within the current year all OSCE / ODIHR recommendations as part of the electoral law.
Speaking to reporters after meeting of the Socialist Party’s leading board, PM Rama said that, “The electoral reform will be voted in the Parliament, as determined even in the relevant requirement of the German Parliament”.
“I am aware of the presence of an opposition in the Parliament, which is involved in the electoral reform commission where there is also an empty seat for the non-parliamentary opposition. It is their right to take that seat or not, but we are not going to wait and within the current year we shall adopt the electoral reform according to OSCE / ODIHR recommendations,” said PM Rama.
He said, “We shall continue the process with those who will obey and vote on electoral reform.”
Speaking about the meeting of the leading board, PM Rama said that, “We are in an electoral process within the party and today we have agreed on the proposal of women members of the party leadership and women MPs and ministers, to start the process of involving women and girls as co-chairperson of the socialist organization”.
“This is a process that represents an important innovation, but also a necessity in conditions when we are certainly the most represented party of women and girls in Albania, ”said PM Rama./a.g/p.s./
