TIRANA, October 18/ATA/- In answer to a question during a press conference on a potential motion of confidence in the Parliament after Albania’s failure to open EU accession negotiations at the European Council, Prime Minister Edi Rama said, “I can ask the French Parliament, but I have no reason to ask the Albanian people.”
He added that the final verdict on this issue was taken by France and it was due to clashes with Germany over the EU’s functioning methodology.
“It has nothing to do with what one country or the other has done. The decision is taken in a moment of EU history, where there is a clash between France and Germany not only for enlargement, but also for other elements of EU functioning, “- said PM Rama.
“The President of France was brutally open in what he said,” said PM Rama. He questioned the entire negotiation methodology, the whole process, seeking to change the process, according to him, to make it more effective for the EU. He called it an ultra-bureaucratic process and he required a change of methodology. It’s in his own right. But, what do we have to do in this middle?!”
The prime minister also recalled that, “North Macedonia has been waiting 14 years for the opening of negotiations”./a.sh/j.p/p.s./
