TIRANA, October 15/ATA/- Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj stated Tuesday on the social media that, the European Union is facing a historic choice about the decision on whether to open the accession negotiations with Albania.
According to him, today’s decision will be a test of the EU ability to deliver on its promises and look to the future.
“Today the European Union faces a historic choice. Today’s decision will be a test of European Union ability to deliver on its promises and look to the future. Albania has undertaken ambitious and courageous judicial reforms becoming a trailblazer in the region. Now is the time to open accession talks, “the Acting Minister Cakaj said.
“Another delay could slow or derail progress and reforms, undermine European Union credibility and risk boosting strategic rivals in Western Balkans. This is the hour of Europe. We don’t need a narrow, insular, inward-looking and disengaged European Union but one that is open, fair and a beacon of hope in troubled times,“ Cakaj underlined. //a.i/
