TIRANA, September 25/ATA/-The U.S. Embassy welcomed participation of the opposition parties in the electoral reform conference.
The embassy issued a press release which reads that the embassy commends the Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha for participating in the rather important conference for the opposition forces out of the Parliament.
“The United States welcomes the decision of the opposition parties to send representatives to the electoral reform conference being coordinated by the Parliament and OSCE Presence in Albania. We commend Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha for convening the opposition yesterday. His efforts demonstrate real leadership on an issue essential to the further strengthening of Albania’s democratic institutions. The United States supports enacting the reforms advocated by the election experts at OSCE/ODIHR so that Albania can hold elections free from coercion, political pressure, and vote buying.
