TIRANA, Sept 16 /ATA/ – A series of investment projects already underway in the town of Roskovec, southern district of Fier, are designed to complete the area’s urban requalification.

Populated from an early time, Roskovec has been one of the main stops along the ancient Via Egnatia, the Roman Empire’s main route east, and located on the main artery linking the cities of Berat and Fier the town has become a major communication and a crossroad of many cultures.

An Albanian government project, being implemented by the Albanian Development Fund, is underway to requalify and upgrade an area of over 3.5 hectares, mainly at Bloc 2. The investment project is designed to renovate facades of main buildings; including the Municipality building, education institutions, the State Police local station etc. The project also includes reconstruction of the town’s main thoroughfare due to be paved with stone tiles and to become a pedestrian area, improvement of roads and streets, surface infrastructure, new underground engineering network, installation of signage and lighting throughout boulevard’s length, playgrounds, and greenery.

Considered as the “border between Myzeqe and Mallakastra”, this town will be transformed and upgraded with modern, community-based infrastructure, creating a recreational and functional space for its residents and visitors.
