TIRANA, September 13/ATA/- The European Union has allocated to Albania 94m Euros for important areas such as the fight against corruption, organized crime, justice reform.
The IPA Annual National Program 2018 will support the sector of Democracy and Good Governance, Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights, Environment and Competitiveness, with a total funding of EUR 94.1 million, as an EU contribution.
At the ceremony, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs was represented by Deputy Minister Sokol Dedja, in his capacity as National IPA Coordinator, while the European Commission was represented by EU Ambassador to Albania Luigi Soreca.
“In our European way, European Union financial support has been a tremendous asset in implementing national reforms and benefiting from IPA funds, in addition to helping our country meet its obligations under the EU integration process; and it has consistently been a driving factor in preparation of central institutions for future accession negotiations ”, said Deputy Minister Dedja.
EU ambassador Luigi Soreca, meanwhile, said that “we are moving towards a very important moment in terms of justice reform. I have said before that very few countries have undertaken such a profound reform and Albania is probably the only country going through this process. The merit goes first of all to the citizens who wanted and demanded this change and the institutions that took up the challenge. Implementation must continue, reform is irreversible. “/a.g/p.s./
