TIRANA, Sept. 10 /ATA/ – Work to construct a 16-km long road between Thore Pass and the tourist village of Theth has recently started, a project designed to provide access and connection between one of Albanian Alp’s most beautiful areas with Boga and the north-western city of Shkodra.
The long-awaited investment for local residents and visitors alike is funded by the Albanian government with the support from the World Bank and the project is being implemented by the Albanian Development Fund under the Regional and Local Roads Connectivity.
According to the Albanian Development Fund, the 16-km long road traverses through a tough terrain that is isolated by snow during the winter months.
The project will ultimately tackle the winter-road related problems and avalanche risks.
This road project is part of an investment package under the National Sectoral Tourism Plan for the Albanian Alps. Through this Master Plan, the Albanian Alps embark on a new development cycle based on a new balanced territorial approach aimed at protecting the environment, fostering the local economy and integrating it in the tourism industry.
