Sweeping reform for administration of coastline

TIRANA, September 4 /ATA/ –”We have undertaken a comprehensive reform of the coastline. The experience we have gained so far is enough to move on to another stage,” said today Prime Minister Edi Rama during a meeting with co-governance coordinators.

PM Rama said that, “We are committed to understand that we cannot leave the coastline area in an intermediary situation.”

“There is much more regulation in comparison with the past, but it is far from being a properly managed coastline for the future of the country, the protection of great natural wealth, development and so on,” said PM Rama.

He added that, “I am very confident that soon we shall have this package of legal intervention regarding coastal control and administration, and we will be very prepared for a major change next season.”

“The public beach space remains a challenge. To guarantee access of everybody, those who rest on the beach and simply need their sand and sea space have no reason to pay to the private individuals occupying the space with umbrellas and beach beds”, concluded PM Rama./p.s./
