Police vetting, Kuko: We are building structures to self-administer process

TIRANA, Sept 4 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ “We have built structures to self-administer the process of police vetting,” Deputy Minister of Interior, Romina Kuko, said in a televised interview.

Kuko said that police vetting is managed by an External Assessment Committee.

“This process will take its time as it will first vet the staff at directors’ level. We contract people who assist in this process until we get to a normal stage of the vetting process which is a common practice among European police. From the moment one applies to be part of the Police, he/she goes through a process of self-vetting, which is administered by the institution itself. The same thing goes for those who are about to be promoted to rank. So we are building structures or more precisely, we have crafted an adequate law to build structures that will be able to self-administer the process. ”

Speaking about the fight against cannabis, Kuko said that phenomenon of cannabis cultivation in Albania has been put to rest.
