Kosovo parliament dissolved

PRISHTINA, Aug 22 /ATA/ – Lawmakers in Kosovo Assembly voted 89 to one and two abstentions to dissolve parliament on Thursday about a month after Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj tendered resignation after receiving summon for questioning by prosecutors in The Hague-based Special Court.

Following the vote, the Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, Kadri Veseli, said the decision will be forwarded to the President to sign it into law.

”91 lawmakers voted, with 89 votes pro, one against and two abstentions to dissolve the sixth legislature of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. The decision will be sent to the President of Kosovo to sign it into law,” Veseli said.

President Hashim Thaçi is now expected to set an election date before a 45-day period ends.
