TIRANA, Aug 21 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – “I don’t think it’s a sin to call for European standards and capacities and a decent National Theatre,” says Elia Zaharia, the daughter of renowned actress Yllka Mujo, adding that the existing National Theatre building fails to meet the required parameters.
“If it was possible to construct a new modern National Theatre and restore the existing building that would be an ideal solution and every one of us would be happy about it! But how affordable and real is this our desire given the today’s conditions? Does the existing building meet such parameters? All those aware of the Theatre’s conditions know the answer quite well. I would like to invite those who have seen only the building’s exterior façade or on the TV screen to visit the Theatre’s interiors. I want to assure all those who have deliberately divided artists into ‘with us or against us’ that there is no artist who doesn’t love or feels in pain about the National Theatre. Quite the contrary,” she says.
Prime Minister Edi Rama added another voice from a family of artists who support plans on construction of a new modern National Theatre.
“Elia Zaharia, the daughter of great actress Yllka Mujo, is another talented stage actress, who just like the overwhelming majority of theatre community voices a reasonable opinion about the future of the National Theatre building,” Rama said.
