TIRANA, August 5/ATA/-The urban waste in Himara used to be carried to Bajkal landfill, an area of 75 square meters and at e high cost of transport because of the long distance.
But, the construction of Vumblo waste ground designed for collection and recycling of waste, cuts the transport distance and as a consequence even the cost. At Vumblo waste ground there will also get realized the separation of waste in the source introducing in Albania a new way of waste treatment in compliance with the EU standards. And it also reduces the costs, but also ensures a clean environment and healthy life for the citizens of Himara.
“Vumblo waste ground is located only 7km away from Himara municipality, away from the tourist zone. The investment focuses on separation of the waste and recycling of the waste in Himara municipality”, said Minister Blendi Klosi at the inauguration event.
He added that the German government project has provided 700 bins for Himara municipality in this summer season ensuring also the collection point of the waste. Thus, Himara will be cleaner and will get a modern treatment of urban waste.
According to the minister, an awareness campaign is required so that Himara residents to separate waste since the beginning./a.a/p.s./
