GDPML extends warning against cheating at international money transfers

TIRANA, August 2/ATA/-The General Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering (GDPML) in cooperation with the General Directorate of Taxation extended a warning to all the taxpayers registered in the tax system against the risk of cheating by unauthorized persons aiming to deviate their bank international transfers into accounts of persons involved in cheating.

Every taxpayer received today an e-filing, an announcement of awareness on this phenomenon.

“Be careful! There have been cases of cheating at international money transfers!” is read in the announcement.

Further on, it explains that during the recent times there is noticed an increase of cheating cases mainly through intervention into e-communications of the bank clients by unknown individuals aiming at deviating the bank transfers into the accounts of the persons involved in cheating.

The clients are instructed to change the data used on transfers because of different pretexts like auditing, problems with fiscal organs and so on. The swindlers appear like legal representatives of the companies with which the bank clients have business relations in international level.

There have been cases of individuals and businesses that have been cheated and lost money.

Hence, the bank clients are advised to conduct a preliminary communication (by phone, fax or e-mail) with the partner companies to confirm every possible change./a.a/p.s./
