Inflation in June fell at 1.3%

TIRANA, July 8/ATA/-The abundant agriculture production had an impact on lowering of prices during June 2019.

According to the Institute of Statistics, inflation fell into 1.3% as compared to 1.5% it was in May.

The low inflation in June as compared with May was mainly a result of the impact of the group “Food and non-alcoholic drinks” the prices of which fell by 0.7 %, followed by “Rent, water, fuel and energy” by 0.2 %, “Health” by 0.1 %. While, the prices of the group “Entertainment and culture” increased by 0.5 %, followed by groups “Clothes and shoes”, “Transport” and “Hotels, café and restaurants” by 0.2 % each.

According to the Central Bank, this is an impact of Lek overvaluation in the exchange rate. The Bank of Albania expects that inflation grows gradually especially beginning from the second half of the current year when it is expected to reach the objective of 3% in early 2021. e.xh/ /a.g/p.s./
