TIRANA, June 28/ATA/- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Behgjet Pacolli attended Thursday the Crans Montana Forum 30th Annual Session in Geneva to hold meetings with leaders on strengthening Kosovo’s international standing and promoting the potential of Kosovo.
Pacolli used the Forum to address Spanish delegation by saying that Kosovo’s case is in no way related to Catalonia. “Because we emerged from a long-period of colonial oppression, which culminated with genocide in 1999.”
During his speech, Pacolli informed the audience about the progress in Kosovo since declaration of independence, recognized by 116 countries as well as by the International Court of Justice.
He invited African countries that have not recognized independence of Kosovo yet, to do so and establish cooperative relations in all fields.
“This year, Crans-Montana Forum with our initiative will be held in Prishtina, transforming Kosovo into a global address of peace and dialogue among different state and social actors throughout the Worlds,” Pacolli said.
“In my keynote address at the Crans Montana Forum 30th Annual Session in Geneva I highlighted the positive developments on Kosovo and the need for the international community to support Kosovo as an important contribution for peace and development in the region and Europe, “ Pacolli said.
“Kosovo is a relatively new destination for foreign investors. Irrespective of this, Kosovo offers vast opportunities for investments and ever more favourable investment climate. Our economy has continued to grow, since the declaration of independence. We offer a positive climate,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Behgjet Pacolli underlined.
“Without a doubt, today we are a good example of peace and reconciliation, an example of dialogue and building good relations with all. For a new, small, war-torn state, these achievements, for such a short time, are encouraging. 20 years ago, Kosovo and Serbia were countries in conflict, our people were enemies. Today we have a completely different picture. We want to have peace. We aim full normalization of relations that leads to mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia as two independent and sovereign states,” Pacolli stated.
According to Pacolli, “In all polls, the citizens of Kosovo come out as the most pro-NATO and pro-European citizens. We are determined that our future is in NATO and EU, in peace, dialogue and cooperations. But Europe must deliver on promises for visa liberalization and enlargement. Current developments are not encouraging.”
“As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our liberation, we are proud of the achievements of our people in many areas. The medals in sports, the rewards in art and culture, the achievements in science and innovation of the Kosovar youth make every citizen of Kosovo proud,” Pacolli concluded.//a.i/
